Travel Photographer of the Year!

I am very happy to be among the winners in the Travel Photographer of the Year.

This is an incredibly prestigious photography contest entered by extremely talented professional photographers around the globe.  I am often on the road so much that I miss most deadlines on these top contests so I guess my time in isolation turned out to be a bit of blessing.

It is hard to believe that I actually captured these images last year (2020) in Lalibela, Ethiopia. It seems as though I have not traveled with you all for much more than a year. I will be so glad when I am able to share the magic of Africa with all of you again soon!!!

My conversion of the Nikon Z7 to IR has opened up a whole new limitless way of shooting with infrared and I was really pushing the boundaries with the light in this portfolio of images.  I will be sharing a lot more about this in my Infrared workshop I will be teaching with Mark Common at Pauls Photo in May.

STATEMENT FROM TPOTY FOUNDER, CHRIS COE:

“Travel photography in a global pandemic, with numerous travel bans, has been challenging to say the least, but travel photographers are a resourceful breed, as the latest set of winning images is a testament to. These winners are spectacular in their beauty, range, drama, elegance and, in some cases, poignancy. In tough times they will bring a warmth and joy to many and confirm that there is skill, insight, vision and art in travel photography.” View all the winning images

      Hello Lance
Thank you so much!! I love the creativity of IR. I have been photographing in Africa for 17 years. I am still very passionate about the wildlife, tribes, and culture, but I was stumbling with my creativity for a few years. IR was the perfect too.
