Africa in Infrared- Outdoor Photographer cover & 6-page article

One of the images from my article, “Africa in Infrared” also made the cover of the August issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine!

After spending more than a decade photographing exotic wildlife and tribes across the African continent, I found myself hitting a plateau. When specializing in a particular subject, area, or genre, it can be quite normal to become stagnate and complacent in your art. The passion for my subjects had not slipped an ounce, but I needed to rejuvenate my creative vision.

When I was back in the US in December I decided to convert my old Canon 5D MarkII to Infrared. It has become a powerful tool that has unleashed my creative block. Infrared has added an element of mystery, excitement, and grandeur back into my photography, as the results are wildly unexpected. I feel I am again, pushing the boundaries of my artistic style.

Read more about, “Africa in Infrared” in the 6-page article I wrote for the August issue of Outdoor Photographer magazine.

Thank you for a very interesting article.
I had a Canon 40d converted some years ago, i must admit that it sits in the cupboard unused as I have been unable to find articles as informative as yours.
You have inspired me to have another attempt
    Thank you

    Piper,
We met this AM in Scottsdale where we discussed IR. I found the Aug Outdoor Photographer and read your article and was very impressed . Great stuff! Well described and full of the right information to get one started shooting IR.
Here’s a link to some of my IR photos.
