TANZANIA

AN EPIC AFRICAN ADVENTURE

September 16-26, 2019

A dream of wild Africa and high on the list for most passionate wildlife photographers, Tanzania immediately evokes the dramatic images of iconic acacia trees silhouetted in a landscape filled with exotic wildlife. Host to one of earth’s largest concentrations of animals and most spectacular theaters of nature, the Serengeti is the heart of the country, known to some as the soul of Africa. This safari coincides with the great migration returning from Kenya and stampeding across the Mara River that runs through Northern Serengeti. This draws the attention of all the big cats – lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Beginning in Tarangire filled with iconic baobab trees and mass herds of elephants and starting this epic journey in the Ngorongoro crater, the 8th wonder of the world and home to the big 5, makes it a photographic destination of a lifetime. You will not only come home with a full portfolio of images but an experience that will remain in your soul for years to come.

Each Spectacular Destinations offers something dynamic

Terangire National Park: Massive elephant herds and iconic baobab trees are two of the main highlights. Herd animals from across the Great Rift Valley and surrounding Conservation Land migrate into the park for water in the river and swamps. Elephant’s numbers can swell to 6,500 inside the park, and predators are actively hunting the increased number of ungulates. Birding in Tarangire is a treat, with over 550-recorded species. Wild dogs have been known to den in the park during this time.

Central Serengeti National Park: This location hosts the iconic kopjes rock formations—known to host lions that perch atop them, scouting prey and soaking up the sun’s rays. Composed of savannah grassland, riparian woodland, and horizons lined with iconic acacia trees, this area embodies the enduring symbol of the African bush and is the perfect back drop for fine art images of Zebra, Leopards, giraffe, gazelle, elephants, and numerous other wildlife roaming free.

Northern Serengeti: The Mara River, with its epic Wildebeest and zebra migration crossings, along with the predator action it brings, will be our primary focus. Our camp sits along one of the major crossing points, where one can watch the build-up, while relaxing under the open canvas lounge, soaking up the extraordinary event about to unfold. This location will also allow us to explore all the crossing points, strategically positioning ourselves for the best photographic opportunities.

Ngorongoro Crater: (Optional Pre Safari) Often called “Africa’s Eden” and the 8th Natural Wonder of the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is the largest intact and unfilled caldera in the world, surrounded by 360-degree, 600m high walls and filled with stunning layers of light. At the bottom lives all the big 5, including the highly endangered black rhino, a stunning forest of yellow acacia trees, natural water holes filled with hippopotamus, and flocks of pink flamingos. This is a bucket list item and something everyone who loves Africa should experience at least once in their lifetime.

Unique Benefits of this safari:

Deluxe Photographic Safari Vehicles
Our vehicles are extended Land Cruisers, specially designed to give photographers the most flexibility and maximum space; your personal space and freedom to shoot 360° is critical. The sides are open, no sliding windows, with full ledges to support proper molar bags, which we supply. The roof has a special leather rollback top, so there are no bars holding up a pop-top, which create obstructions of your lens placement. They ensure plenty of space and options for using clamps, molar beanbags, panning plates, and other gear to aid your ability to capture the best images. Each photographer will have his or her own row. Many photo safaris place 4 clients in a vehicle to entice a lower price but imagine missing that award-winning shot because another participant is in your way or you cannot have your gear next to you, ready to grab on a moment’s notice.

Experienced Driver Guides
Our driver guides have thousands of hours of experience throughout the reserves in Tanzania. They understand the needs of photographers and the importance of quickly positioning the vehicle for the best light, composition, and exceptional photographs.

High Quality Camps, Accommodations, and Locations
Our high-quality accommodations have been chosen carefully for their excellent location and authentic African safari style. A long day of incredible photography on safari is exhilarating but can be taxing. Rejuvenating in comfort and style to relax, download images, and enjoy a delicious meal is essential. In the evening, we will have drinks around the campfire, engaging in lively discussions about the excitement of the day and the photographic successes and challenges.

Extra Weight Allowance
We have arranged extra weight allowance on your flight, so your gear and luggage can remain with you. This is a big trip, and anything could happen when transferring gear and luggage by ground transfer.

Artistic Images
We pride ourselves on striving for creative artistic wildlife images, using natural dramatic lighting, combined with manipulating camera settings. We work passionately with you to capture award-winning images that stand above the ‘point, click, and shoot the action directly in front of you’ photographs flooding the Internet.

Instructional support without missing the action
Unlike some safari workshops that emphasize such a heavily ridged instructional structure that you miss key opportunities and the enjoyment of the safari experience, our safari prioritizes photographic moments and memories in the field, rather than lectures back in camp. We will provide timely guidance, support, and instructional tips based on the action happening in front of us. When we are back in camp, only because the light becomes too harsh and it has grown quiet in the warmth of the day, we will review images and discuss image techniques. Our goal is to ensure maximizing every photographic opportunity we can deliver during your safari.
