2 LOCATIONS
If you want to learn and improve your skills while in the field and on safari,
this is PERFECT for you!!

This experience is more than a safari; it is a focused, immersive workshop designed to elevate your photography. Each day is built around developing the core elements that define a powerful image: light, composition, timing, and purpose. Through daily reviews and targeted presentations, you will begin to understand not just what to photograph, but how and why an image works.
Set in one of the most dynamic and unpredictable wildlife environments in the world, the Maasai Mara naturally pushes you beyond reactionary shooting. Fast-moving subjects, constantly shifting light, and ever-changing conditions challenge you to think, anticipate, and respond with intention. The goal is for you to leave not only with an unforgettable safari experience but with a deeper understanding of the craft and a portfolio of your strongest work.
MAASAI MARA & MARA CONSERVANCY
Known as the wildlife mecca of the world and immortalized by countless wildlife films, the Maasai Mara needs little introduction. The vast open plains are home to large prides of lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, black rhinos, hippos, Maasai giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, and more. It remains one of the best places in Africa to photograph big cats, with consistent sightings and behavior that allows for both action and storytelling.
LEARNING IN THE FIELD
Each morning before sunrise and again in the late afternoon until sundown, we will be out in the field with a clear purpose to move beyond reacting and begin creating.
We will walk you through our thought process as we approach a subject:
- Why we position the vehicle a certain way
- How we read the light before taking the shot
- When to wait and when to act
- Gear choices and settings based on intention, not habit
You will learn to slow down, anticipate moments, and build images with purpose rather than simply capturing what unfolds in front of you.
STRUCTURED SKILL DEVELOPMENT
At our first location, after the morning drive, we will present one of the four key elements of a strong image. That concept becomes the focus for the next two drives. Each day, we layer these elements, building understanding progressively, rather than overwhelming you all at once.
This approach proved incredibly effective in 2024, allowing guests to see real improvement within days.
You will also have time each day to review your images and select a small number for critique. These image reviews take place at our second location, where we refine your work, strengthen your eye, and help you understand how to push each image further.

SECOND LOCATION – DEPTH & CREATIVE FREEDOM
Our second location is set within one of the Mara’s top conservancies, offering off-road access for precise positioning and greater creative control. With significantly fewer vehicles, you are able to work scenes without distraction, experiment with perspective, and use wide-angle lenses without interference.
Our specially designed photographic vehicles, including the low-angle drop door, allow you to shoot at eye level, creating more intimate and impactful images. This combination of access, positioning, and perspective is what transforms good images into great ones.

VEHICLES AND GUIDES MATTER
Specialty-designed photographic vehicles with multiple shooting levels make a significant difference when creating strong, intentional compositions. The guides who operate these vehicles primarily work with photographers, understanding how a matter of inches in positioning, often decided in a split second, can determine light, background, and composition. They bring not only this technical awareness, but also deep knowledge of wildlife, flora, fauna, and conservation, all while delivering a high level of hospitality. By contrast, most safari camps are designed for general game viewing, with vehicles built for comfort and guides focused on delivering a broad holiday experience. Understanding this distinction is key. It allows you to choose a safari that aligns with your photographic goals and ultimately shapes the quality of both your experience and the images you take home.
