A profound transformative experience of a lifetime, the Kuhbh Mela in Allahabad cannot begin to be understood through words or photographs; one must simply go and stand in awe of the mass gathering of pilgrims and sadhus.
Every 6 years, millions of Hindu pilgrims descend upon Allahabad to bathe in the sacred holy river. They traditionally regard river confluences as auspicious places, and none more so than the one at Allahabad, where the Yamuna and Ganges Rivers meet the River of Enlightenment. The bracing plunge into the sacred river is said to wash away a lifetime of sin.
For weeks, the sadhus will lead processions accompanied by elephants, camels, horses, chariots and musical bands. Known to be the largest peaceful religious gathering in the world, visitors are intrigued by the physical beauty of the people and the loving devotional nature of this sacred festival.
This will be a thrilling experience filled with amazing photographic opportunities, but one that can nonetheless be emotionally and physically draining. Therefore, we have taken great care in choosing a very reliable, experienced, deluxe camp where you can retreat at the end of the day to relax, recharge, and recover from the day’s excitement. This is also why Jassi and Piper are offering this as an extension to the Incredible India Tour. Bear in mind that while this is a mind-blowing experience beyond the incredible photographs, this type of festival is not for everyone.
(NOTE: Vehicles are not allowed into the fairgrounds. Clients should be prepared to walk for up to 2-5 miles each day while at the main event of Kumbh Mela.)

Itinerary
Day 1, February 1, 2019 – Arrive into Delhi
Upon arrival into Delhi, you will be met and greeted by our representative and privately transferred to the hotel. Encompassed with beautiful patio gardens, a swimming pool, sauna, and spa, the JW Marriot Aerocity is the perfect place to relax after your long flights and rejuvenate for the grand adventure that lies ahead.

Day 2, February 2, 2019
On this morning, awaken slowly and enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee. We will meet for breakfast and a briefing about the life-altering experience of the Kumbh Mela. After breakfast, we will depart for the airport to catch our flights to Varanasi and have lunch before continuing our journey by road (approx. 3.5 hrs) to Allahabad. In the evening you will have an orientation walk with all the guides, introducing you to all the important places you will want to visit over the next few days.

Day 3&4, February 3&4, 2019
We will spend the next two days witnessing and participating in this amazing centuries-old mass gathering of pilgrims and sadhus.

Day 5, February 5, 2019
Enjoy one last sunrise at the Kumbh Mela. After breakfast, we will drive to Varanasi and join the rest of the group for the Incredible India Tour.
